The bf and I are trying to become healthier. Well, let me rephrase that – I am trying to be healthier and therefore making him be healthier too lol. So, last week I noticed this recipe for a smoothie. It looked delish and is packed with anti-oxidants, so I decided to give it a try.
Here's how mine turned out:
And here's what I used:
• Half a bag of frozen blueberry, blackberry and strawberry medly {I opted for this because the fresh berries were so expensive and I wasn't sure if I would like the flavors together}
• Half a fresh mango
• About 1/4 cup of almond milk
• About 1/4 cup of orange juice
Notes: This juice was SUPER tasty. I LOVED it and definitely will be making it again (in fact, I'm wanting more as I write this). I'll continue to buy the frozen fruit until summer rolls around and berries are in abundance and cheaper than they are now. I'll stock up at that point and portion them out to freeze for later consumption. Also, the orange juice was a HUGE helper in the sweet department. The berries alone can be a little bitter, but I did not want to add sugar. The orange juice did the trick. Also, since the berries were frozen I did not add ice. If you were using fresh berries though, I would suggest adding 2-3 ice cubes to get the frozen effect. Lastly, it did not look that ugly purple color in person. It was much more of a pretty berry purple in real life.
So tell me, do you ever make smoothies at home? What kind do you make? I'd love to hear some of your recipes!

i never do, but this looks amazing. i've been wanting to try some new things so i think i'll have to copy this recipe!
